Courageous Advocacy
At William Hildyard we encourage and support all of our classes to become ‘Courageous Advocates’. This means that the children support causes which are important and meaningful to them. We believe that courageous advocacy links directly with our Christian Values through thoughtfulness, compassion, courage, justice, service and generosity.
In September, the School Council, supported by Miss Remnant, set the children their advocacy challenge. Key Stage 1 children are supporting and challenging local issues, lower Key Stage 2 children are advocating national issues and Upper Key Stage 2 are advocating larger global issues.
We believe that setting a courageous advocacy challenge will give all of our pupils a sense of belonging and an understanding of the world, as well as promoting independence and perseverance. This will allow us all to understand the world that we live in and the change that we can bring to make the world a better place.
